Spring Mountain E-Ray Class

Flew into Vegas Wednesday, September 3rd and made my way to Spring Mountain Corvette Driving School in Pahrump, Nevada.  The drive is about an hour from the airport and actually once you get on Highway 160, Blue Mountain Rd it's smooth sailing.  It's fun driving through the elevation and turns through the mountains.

I've taken several classes at Spring Mountain and signed up for the two day E-Ray class this round.  Class started on Thursday with introductions, introducing all the instructors and 3 exercises in the morning.  We did ABS braking, the famous Serpentine with shaded blind in window and track session.  I picked the #307 Competition Yellow E-ray to drive.

This class took place on the West 1.5-mile track, a demanding course also used to train future NASCAR drivers. We drove with paddle shifters, which was manageable since shifting was only needed in two corners, moving between 3rd and 4th gear. A highlight was riding along with an instructor at higher speeds, gaining valuable tips on where to refine our driving.

The second day we went over Cornering 101 which was an entire class, we pulled the SD cards and looked over some of our laps and where we could improve.  We also had a session on the autocross in the morning.  In the afternoon the runs counted for the final competition and I was able to secure the best time in my group.  

The class also went out on the skid pad that was covered in water and tested out Wet mode vs. all the nannies off which everyone enjoyed.  I really enjoyed the Garage Talk Class later in the day going over the E-ray.  

On the last day in the afternoon is graduation.  Everyone gets a certificate and the autocross scores are announced.  We all pack up and head back to Vegas, some stay an extra day and some were driving to other parts of the country including California and other western states.  And as always, they warn us leaving Spring Mountain that the local law enforcement knows when the class gets out and to stick close to the speed limit.  I always take their advice.  Another great trip to Spring Mountain in the books.

We also received an order of Chevy black Fitted Hats with Silver bowtie logo.  A side logo always make a hat stand out. OSFM, this fitted hat is offered in one size.  I wear L/XL and it works but a little more snug than other flexfit hats.
